Mr. Jabish Richmond Amissah-Arthur, father of Vice President Kwasi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur, has passed away. The educationist, who was the second and longest serving headmaster of Oda Secondary School from September 1961 to December 1977, passed away in hospital in Accra last Wednesday at the age of 91 years. The death comes after the Oda Secondary School honoured him with the unveiling of his bust during its 54th speech and prize giving day in March this year, in recognition for his meritorious service to the school and nation. At the same ceremony of the school the Vice President and his five other siblings established the J.R.P. Amissah-Arthur Leadership Award to honour their father and also promote the values and principles that guided the personal and professional life of the late former headmaster. Vice President Amissah-Arthur, announced the passing of his father at the foundation stone laying ceremony for Manse (Mission house) for the St. Paul�s Methodist Cathedral at Tema on Saturday, after attending the requiem mass for the late Paul Victor Obeng, a senior presidential advisor, at the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Tema. He said it was sad to lose such two important people who shaped his personal and political life, but was consoled by the achievements of the two�his father and PV Obeng. He commended the leadership of the St. Paul�s Methodist Cathedral for initiating the Manse Project (Mission House), saying it was critical motivating the pastors to give off their best. He also urged the congregation and Christians in general to be generous to the deprived in society, reminding them that God appreciates cheerful givers. The construction of the four-storey Manse, which is 70 per cent complete, would house the senior ministers of the church.
