REV. AUGUSTINE Agyapong Bae, District Minister for Atebubu and also the Presbytery Director for Development and Social Services, has been elected as the Sekyere Presbytery Clerk at the Presbytery Conference held at the Baptist Retreat Centre, Ejura in the Ashanti Region. The Sekyere Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, which has its headquarters at Asante Mampong, comprises 12 districts � Agona, Effiduase, Nsuta, Mampong, Jamasi and Wiamoase. The rest are Kumawu, Ejura, Benim, Sekyedomase, Atebubu and Yeji. He will take over from Rev. Benjamin Owusu Antwi, whose term of office ends on August 31, 2014. He beat two others, Rev. Kenneth Kwadwo Kyeremeh and Rev. Ebenezer Agyei Misah, who were also nominated for the position of Clerkship. Rev. Augustine Agyapong Bae polled 40 votes, as against 26 for Rev. K.K. Kyeremeh at the end of the second round of the election supervised by officials from the Ejura District of the Electoral Commission, who are also members of the church. The election went into a round off, because the first round could not produce a winner, as Rev. Augustine Agyapong Bae polled 23 votes; Rev. K.K. Kyeremeh 22, with Rev. Ebenezer Agyei Misah getting 21. This called for a round off, since no one got the fifty percent plus one vote. Rev. Ernest Odame Asare, the Presbytery Chairperson, exhorted the delegates to seek the face of God for the Holy Spirit to lead them in their decision. He prayed for the candidates, after the outgoing Clerk, Rev. Benjamin Owusu Antwi has introduced them to the conference, which was held under the theme: Fruit of the Spirit and the Believer, [Galatians 5:22-23]. In his acceptance speech, Rev. Augustine Agyapong Bae thanked God and the delegates for electing him to be the Clerk of the Presbytery, and promised to work hard to justify the confidence reposed in him. Rev. Bae said he would work assiduously to assist the Chairperson uplift the Presbytery and the growth of the Presbyterian Church Ghana. He has since contributed a lot to the growth of the Presbytery, having masterminded various income generating projects undertaken by the Presbytery. Some of these projects are a sachet water project at Jamasi, crop farming and cattle rearing project at Atebubu and others. Rev. Bae was ordained a full minister in 2008, and was a Minister in charge for four years at the Emmanuel Congregation at Asante Juaben in the Ashanti Region, which happened to be his first duty post. Whilst at Juaben, Rev. Bae proved that he is not only a Minister of the Gospel, but also has the wherewithal when it comes to income generating activities. He taught most church members soap making, tie and dye, and batik processsing.
