Man Found Dead In Gutter

A man believed to be in his early 30�s has been found dead in a gutter along the Suhum Government Hospital road in the Suhum Municipality of the Eastern Region. The body of the deceased who is yet to be identified has been deposited at the Suhum Government Hospital Morgue pending autopsy. The deceased is believed to have been killed by his assailants and dumped in the gutter. The assailants covered the corpse with a dirty cloth from head to toe. The Daily Heritage observed that marks of brutal assault were on the body of the deceased with minor cuts in the forehead and face. The Suhum Police upon hearing the incident rushed to the scene and after taking inventories conveyed the body to the Suhum Government Hospital. When contacted, the Suhum Municipal Police Commander, DSP Anane Appiah said no arrest has been made and assured that investigations are ongoing to arrest the assailants. He announced that families of those whose relatives have gone missing in the municipality must report to the police to assist in investigation. The Eastern Region has recorded a number of murder cases perpetrated by unknown assailants. The situation has raised public outcry with appeals to the police to put measures in place to curb the menace. The Eastern Regional Police Command is expected to hold a press conference to address the media on the security situation in the region and matters arising.
