THE ceiling of the Emergency Children�s Block at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital which caved in following a downpour on May 21, 2014 has been repaired. Following the repair work, the children on admission who were relocated have been brought back to the ward. When the Daily Graphic visited the ward last Tuesday, nurses and doctors were attending to the children in the rehabilitated ward. The ceiling showed no sign of breakage as it had been tightly fixed. The Daily Graphic had, on May 26, 2014, reported that about 30 children had been relocated from the Emergency Children�s Block to one of the main wards located on the second floor of the adjacent block due to the fissure of the ceiling there. Congestion The situation created congestion and threatened the safety and health of the affected children, as any infection could be spread quickly. When the Daily Graphic visited the hospital last Saturday, parents stood by while their children were being attended to by doctors in the crowded ward. Some of the parents who spoke to the Daily Graphic said apart from the congestion, water supply to the ward had not been regular. The Public Relations Officer of the hospital, Mr Mustapha Salifu, said efforts had already been made to solve the problem. �When it happened, we had to quickly move the children to the second floor of the building to make way for the repair works,� he said. He said the downpour, coupled with the thunderstorm, disorganised the ceiling of the block which was under renovation.
