Andre Ayew: We Are Going To Brazil As Underdogs In Group G

The OM player says Ghana have accepted the Group G underdogs tag but will prove the doubters wrong when the tournament gets underway. Ghana winger, Andre Ayew says the Black Stars are going to the World Cup as underdogs in Group G. The 2010 World Cup quarter finalists are in the same group with USA, Germany, and Portugal. With Germany and Portugal tipped as group favourites, Ayew believes that notion will be reviewed immediately the group campaign gets underway. "Playing a World Cup is great. We fell in a tough group with Germany, Portugal, and the United States. We go as underdogs, hoping to take points," the Olympic Marseille player told foot-express. After helping Ghana to reach the quarterfinals of the competition in 2010, Andr Ayew hopes to repeat the same feat, although he concedes it will be tough. "We have a good group, but we will miss Isaac Vorsah and John Mensah, who are injured. They were at the back four years ago. Mensah and Boye have arrived. They play in a high level so they deserve their chance, the 24-year-old added. Ayew captained the Ghana U20 team to win the FIFA U20 World Cup in Egypt in 2009.
