Nursing Mother Remanded For Insulting Herbal Doctor

A TWENTY-TWO-YEAR-OLD Nursing mother, Emelia Akakpo has been remanded into prison custody for insulting Dr. Anthony Normashie, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Health For All Herbal Center at Owuram, near Asamankese in the Eastern region. The suspect pleaded not guilty to the charge; however, her plea was not taken and has been remanded for two weeks with her two-month-old baby at the Nsawam Prisons by the presiding Judge of Anum Magistrate Court, Mr. Justice Ansah Awuah. The family of the suspect is calling on the Chief Justice, Her Ladyship, Georgina Theodora Wood to intervene since they suspect injustice in the case. Eric Ayisi, husband to the suspect said in an interview with the Daily Heritage that on Easter Friday, Dr. Normashie reported to the police that he (Ayisi) was disturbing the peace of the area with sounds from his spinning machine one afternoon. He was subsequently arrested and released later after rendering apology to the herbal doctor. He said a few days later the CEO later hired a chainsaw operator to cut down some trees in the premises of the Herbal center, but unfortunately the trees fell on buildings of some residents. He said the victims� attempt to protest triggered a fight between them and workers of the herbal center. Ayisi said the wife (suspect) went to assist separate the fighters and uttered some comments blaming the CEO, Dr. Normashie for being the cause of confusion in the area. He said, Dr Normashie called on the police who came to arrest the wife, charged her for verbal assault and arranged her before court and was subsequently remanded for two weeks to reappear before court.
