Gushegu District Security Council To Assess Security Situation

The Gushegu District Security Council will be meeting this afternoon to assess the Security situation following Wednesday�s clashes that left three people dead. The Regional Minister, Alhaji Limuna Muniru who confirmed this to Radio Ghana said the REGSEC will also meet on Friday. He told Radio Ghana that relative calm have been restored to the place. Three persons were confirmed dead while two others are in a critical condition as conflict erupted between the Yiyamba and Beriba communities in the Gushiegu district over a parcel of land. Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mr Ebenezer Tetteh, Northern Regional Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Police Service, who confirmed the incident in an interview on Wednesday, said apart from the death of the three men whose names he could not immediately provide, several houses had also been torched. He said many people had fled the two communities while economic activities had come to a halt with women and children there most vulnerable.
