People Are Ashamed To Be Identified With The NDC - PNC

The Eastern Regional Branch of the Peoples National Convention (PNC) has said that the only way Ghanaians can feel a better Ghana is when positive signs of development are shown. This is contained in a press statement signed by Alhaji Ustaz Yakubu Salifu, Regional Secretary of the party, and copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Koforidua. The statement alleged that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government under President John Dramani Mahama had done nothing positive for Ghanaians to have or feel a sense of hope in them. Currently, nothing is moving well in Ghana; People are totally frustrated and ashamed to be identified for voting NDC into power, the statement said. The statement urged government to reduce the tax burden on private businesses, especially the hotels, which are currently generating more job opportunities for the youth in the region. It said the only meaningful job opportunity for young school leavers in the region was the hotels and a few tourist centres. But due to the high rate of taxes imposed on them, many of these facilities have closed down, as a result of which workers are laid off, adding up to the already existing number of unemployed on the streets, it stated. The statement expressed the hope that the just-ended National Economic Forum will not just be a talk shop, but that all points raised in the communiqu will be executed urgently. It, however, urged all PNC members to unite to build a stronger front to win power in 2016.
