Ketu-North Announces Package For Best BECE Candidates

The Ketu North District Assembly and the Member of Parliament would organize a red-carpet treat, including a dinner for the three top candidates in this year's Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE). Mr James Gunu, District Chief Executive, announced the package when he visited some examination centres in the district on Monday. He urged the candidates to enter the examination halls with confidence rather than fear. Three top candidates, last year, now in their second year at the Senior High School, were awarded scholarships sponsored by the Assembly and the MP Mr Peter Nortsu-Kotoe towards raising academic standards in the district. Mr Gunu urged the candidates to strive to be the best countrywide, and win the prizes reserved for excellence, and not to relapse into thinking that standards might be poor elsewhere. Mrs. Kate Nutsuga-Mikado, District Director of Education, urged the candidates, especially the girls, to work hard to qualify for the packages this year. Mr. Nortsu-Kotoe, urged the candidates to be well composed and give good account of their nine-year basic education. . He reminded the candidates that their future depended on the BECE, and must therefore not underrate the examinations. Some of the candidates told the GNA they were prepared and hopeful of making it.
