Ashanti NDC Begins Biometric Registration

The Ashanti regional branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has begun a biometric registration of its members in a data collection drive. This is also to strengthen its grass-roots base towards the 2016 general elections as well as stamp out imposters. Biometric materials for the exercise have already been distributed to the 47 constituencies in the region for the exercise to commence in the 4,628 wards of the party. The Regional Organiser of the party, Alhaji Sannie Abdulai, told the Daily Graphic on Wednesday that the exercise was part of the partys contribution to ensuring violence-free elections in 2016. He said the exercise was also a prelude to the constituency elections which have been slated for August this year. The party has asked all ward level executives to conclude their elections by July 19, to ensure a smooth constituency election. Ahead of that, there is set to be a massive shadow battle for the various positions, compelling the organiser to caution potential candidates against malicious campaign likely to taint the image of the party. For some days now, the partys new office at Amakom has been flooded for the biometric registration and measures have been put in place to screen members to ensure that no one uses the partys card for any social vices.
