Ghana, Israel Strengthen Parliamentary Ties

THE GHANA-ISRAEL Parliamentary Friendship Association has been reactivated with the aim of strengthening parliamentary democracy and sharing of ideas as well as resources between both countries. The association also aims at moving beyond Parliamentary diplomacy to ensuring development at the national level. This was made known when members of the association from the Israeli Knesset visited their Ghanaian counterparts in Parliament to familiarize themselves. Welcoming the delegation, Chairman of the Association and Member of Parliament for Ho West, Emmanuel Bedzrah said they hope to move the friendship to developmental level and further scale up to the national level. Mr. Bedzrah noted that it was important for members of the association to ensure that the friendship is stable and sustainable over a long period of time. He assured the delegation that they would do their best to ensure that whatever parliamentary approval they need in Ghana on any bilateral agreement to strengthen the relationship would be done. M.K. Pnina Tamano-Shata, Deputy Speaker of the Israeli Knesset, who led the delegation, said they were really impressed about the association, noting that the corporation between the two countries would be strengthen further. Shimon Solomon-Yassa, a member of Knesset and the association said their main target in this was to ensure that Israel was accepted in Africa.
