The government has joined the manhunt for the arrest of the murderer(s) of the Overlord of Bimbilla, Naa Dasana Andani, and three others. It has offered GH�100, 000 as a reward for information leading to the arrest of the murderers. A statement signed by the Minister of Information and Media Relations, Mr Mahama Ayariga, described the incident as �dastardly and despicable crime that must be condemned in the strongest terms.� While investigations into the matter continue, the statement called on the citizens of the area to remain calm. �We have beefed up security in the area to ensure law and order and the protection of lives and property,� it said. March 17, 2012 The Judicial Committee of the Northern Regional House of Chiefs unanimously declared Naa Andani Dasanna as the substantive paramount chief of the Bimbilla Traditional Area. May 21, 2012 The Tamale High Court began hearing the Bimbilla chieftaincy dispute filed by the Nakpaa-Naa, one of the aggrieved factions in the dispute challenging the legitimacy of Naa Andani. March 7, 2014 A 12-hour curfew was imposed on Bimbilla after sporadic shooting which left one person dead. The shooting was triggered by disagreements between two chieftaincy factions over where to bury the chief of the town, Nakpaa-Naa Salifu Dawuni. March 8, 2014 Fifteen people were arrested in the skirmishes that claimed the life of one person. On the same day, the Northern Regional Minister, Bede Zeiden, together with the Regional Security Council, met factions in the Bimbilla chieftaincy dispute to discuss ways to reach a consensus in the area. March 10, 2014 The 15 people arrested, in connection with the disturbances at Bimbilla, which claimed one life, were granted bail. March 12, 2014 The family of Naa Salifu Dawuni,a Bimbilla chief, requested his body for burial. The body had been in the Yendi Hospital under the instructions of the Northern Regional Security Council.
