With horn tooting and accelerator pedal highly engaged, a speeding tipper truck veered off the road and smashed into a building housing a number of shops and offices at Kasoa in the Central region early Monday morning.
Fortunately no one was hit or hurt.
Behind the wheel at the time of the incident was an "aplanke" (a driver's mate) who was said to have lost control in an attempt to chase another vehicle that had grazed and dented the truck while in traffic.
It happened at the Odukpon Kpehe area, close to the main traffic lights on the Kasoa � Winneba highway at about 6am.
Eyewitnesses said they had seen the driver of the truck get out of the vehicle in the very busy area of Kasoa, to chase the offending vehicle on foot, after it scraped and dented the truck with registration number GE 7119 -12 and had attempted to run away meandering through traffic.
When he abandoned the truck, another person who was later identified as his assistant (mate), took hold of the steering wheel to follow suit, with intent to chase the other offending vehicle.
This was when he was said to have accelerated at high speed, lost control, veered off the road and created the spectacular crash.
Luckily, no one was hurt except for the damage to the tipper truck and the building.
The building that was destroyed accommodated some shops and offices including the Kasoa Agency of the insurance firm, Star Assurance.
The area is usually a very busy place with human activity, except on this day businesses were yet to open.
The police were yet to report at the scene by the time Graphic Online got to the scene, while the driver and his assistant were also not available.
