Former NPP Chairman To Withdraw Suit Against Party

The former Constituency Chairperson of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), David Hoezema, who sued the party recently will be withdrawing the case from court. David Hoezeme dragged the NPP to court over the illegal constitution of the partys National Council. The party over the weekend organized regional elections to properly constitute the National Council, hence David Hoezemes decision to withdraw the case. On Saturday June 28, 2014, the Central and Ashanti regions elected their members who included key figures like former Interior Minister, Kwamena Bartels and controversial party figure Dr. Amoako Tufuor. The remaining eight regions elected their representatives on Sunday. However, the Northern Regional Executive Committee of the party has endorsed a list submitted to the national secretariat for approval as representation on the National Council. The decision was an alternative of holding election to elect representation on the NPP National Council. Under the constitution of the party, every five constituencies in the region had the opportunity to have one person to represent them on the National Council. The former NPP constituency chairman had filed a suit at an Accra High Court challenging the current composition of the National Council.
