The South Dayi District Assembly has proposed to pay GH�41,600 as ex gratia to 32 assembly members after their tenure in December this year. To this end, each assembly member is expected to be paid GH�1,300 in two equal instalments within a year after the dissolution of the assembly. The South Dayi District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr Kafui Semenu Bekui, announced this when he delivered the executive committee report to the general assembly at Kpeve. He said all revenue sources for mobilising internally generated funds had been identified towards the payment of the ex gratia to the members. GETFund projects Mr Bekui disclosed that work had stalled on 20 GETFund projects, while work was ongoing on nine, with three so far completed, adding that work was not progressing on four projects funded by the MPs� Common Fund. The three completed GETFund projects are the Peki-Avetile L/A Primary School, the Peki-Wudome Primary School and kindergartens at Peki-Wudome and Peki-Tsame. He said the assembly had awarded GH�9,040 as scholarships to 16 students in the district to enable them to continue schooling at the senior high school and the tertiary levels. DACF He said the assembly was to access GH�2,132,074.33 as its share of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) and that the administrator of the DACF had indicated that the funds should be drafted on a composite budget based on mandatory requirements, ongoing projects, creditors and contingencies. MASLOC beneficiaries The DCE condemned the behaviour of some people who always created the impression that the government had not done anything for them, noting that 600 women and 440 men had benefitted from the MASLOC intervention in the district, amounting to GH�326,980. �About 300 laptops had been supplied to 23 schools under the Better Ghana Agenda programme,� he disclosed, adding that communities which could not guarantee the security of the laptops had not yet received their allocation. In an address, the Presiding Member, Madam Atawa Akyea, said the onus was on the assembly members to help promote the interest of children in their electoral areas, especially in the sectors of education and welfare.
