Accra Polo Club excel in South Africa

Accra Polo Club of Ghana won two games against the Underberg Polo Club of South Africa during the Zulu Shield Championship sponsored by South Africa Airways. Kwakye Dopuah-Dei, Captain of the Accra Polo Club made this known when the team arrived in the country on Sunday from South Africa after the tournament. He said Accra Polo Club won their first game 2-1 and the second, 7-4. He said the Ghanaian team, which was sponsored by South African Airways, however failed to win their third game by losing 6-5. Dopuah-Dei, who is also the President of the Ghana Real Estate Developers Association (GREDA), said the sponsorship of the Ghanaian team by the airline was a new partnership between the club and the airline, which is celebrating its 80th anniversary. He said Ghana led 1-0 in the First Chukka, but recoiled and allowed the home team to dominate and score three goals against one in the Second Chukka before making it 6-5 in the Third and Fourth Chukkas respectively. Dopuah-Dei said he was impressed with the performance of his team as well as the new partnership deal struck with the airline. The Captain said the partnership with the airline would enhance the game in Ghana and with the large number of individuals and multinationals patronizing the sport in the Country, the future of the game looks very bright, and appealed to other corporate bodies and institutions to assist the club. The players of the Accra Polo Club included Harold Awuah-Darko, George Agyemang, Lariposker Sowee Saneo and Eric Gene.
