Police Arrest Two Foreigners For Attempting To Swindle Shop Attendant

Two foreign nationals are in the grips of the police for attempting to swindle a cement shop assistant at Teshie in Accra. Shama Obodo, an Ivorian, and Ibrahim Sanago Ndia, a Malian, both unemployed, were arrested after they allegedly tried to dupe the shop attendant on the pretext of buying bags of cement. The Teshie District Police Command, Superintendent of Police, Mr Simons Agbodeka, said on Friday, July 11, 2014, that the two men who are unemployed and are believed to be friends, admitted intending to daze the shop attendant and stealing from the shop. He said on June 18, 2014 the suspects entered the cement shop and said they wanted to buy fifty bags of cement. Attempt to daze However, the two suspects suddenly changed their intent and removed some chemical from a small bag which one of them was holding. They are said to have asked the shop assistant to smell the chemical. Mr Agbodeka said �they wanted to daze the shop attendant to enable them to carry out their nefarious act.� Suspecting a foul play, he said the shop attendant raised an alarm and attracted the attention of people close by. With the help of the people who responded to the shouts for help, the shop attendant arrested the two suspects and later escorted them to the Teshie Police Station. During investigations the accused persons admitted the offence in their caution statements and they were charged with attempting to steal and conspiracy to commit crime.
