AUDIO: "Chairman" of Ghetto Boys Voices Anger Over Increase In "Wee" & Prostitution Charges

A couple of months ago, some members of the Ghanaian public advocated for "wee" to be legalised; leading to various controversies in the country. Some were against the idea and a few supported it but that debate is for another date. For now, cannabis or Marijuana popularly known as "wee" is considered as illegal in the country. However, a wee smoker has been bold enough to dare the police. He said they were part of the Trades Union Congress (TUC) as such joined the Organised Labour in the We are suffering demonstration on Thursday. He bemoaned the rate at which goods and services are skyrocketing daily. According to him, they also have the right to join in the demonstration because they are Ghanaians and they feel the heat in the country. The wee smoker who gave his name as Nana and described himself as the ghetto chairman, told Akwasi Agyeman of Peace FM who interviewed him on the "Kokrokoo" programme that; first 'wee' was sold for GHC50p but now it is GHC1.00. Now the economic hardship is such that, a colleague wee-smoker will not want to give you "pass" (the little piece of weed he is smoking)...Formerly when someone has a 'short time' with a prostitute, they charge GHC5 but now it is GHC10, even the condoms they use are now expensive. When asked if he knew it was illegal to sell or smoke 'wee', he said: it is not a matter of legality; everybody is doing what they liketweaaa!!! Which law and who can arrest me. How can I be arrested for something I decided to deal in or smoke? If I am in my room nobody can arrest me but I can only be arrested when I come in public and smoke. I am speaking on behalf of all ghetto boys. Click the audio to listen to the rest of the conversation.
