Gardening For Value

The Chief Executive Officer of Strategic Communications Africa ltd. (Stratcomm Africa), Ms. Esther Cobbah has challenged Ghanaians to take full advantage of the numerous natural resources that the country has been blessed with to turn the fortunes of the country round. She mentioned such rich natural resources as water, fertile lands and abundant sunshine, and said like many countries in Africa and beyond, Ghana could harness these God given resources that could earn it good foreign exchange. Ms Cobbah was speaking at the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation during her a visit to the media house recently. She recounted how developing countries such as Ethiopia, Kenya, Zambia and Uganda have experienced rapid growth from the exportation of horticultural products. Ethiopia, the fourth largest flower exporter in the world has a flower export market which is the countrys alternative source of income. Despite weather restrictions, Kenya and some other East African countries that rely heavily on flower export, generate millions of dollars per annum through this business venture by taking advantage of the natural resource around them. Ghana with all its abundant natural resources is also capable of earning more and boosting its economic development by promoting the floriculture industry locally. It is with this in mind that Stratcomm Africa is holding the annual Innovative Ghana Garden and Flower Show from August 29th to September 8th 2014 at the Efua Sutherland Park in Accra. With the theme Gardening for value - health, beauty, jobs and income, the 2014 Garden and Flower show is aimed at creating employment through flower exports as well as encouraging healthy living and environmental beautification through gardening. The show will present to participants, conferences and workshops, exhibitions as well as exciting activities such as fashion shows, family picnic, green clinic and many more. With this event, Stratcomm Africa envisages Ghana as a more colorful tourist destination with a thriving economy empowered by a flourishing floriculture industry. Through the Garden and flower Show, Stratcomm Africa anticipates employment and foreign exchange generation through equipping budding entrepreneurs with business ideas sparked by gardens and flowers.
