Information tricking to the stables of GO from an impeccable source at the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council (ARCC) indicates that the Ashanti Regional Minister is displeased with the mode of campaign being undertaken by some of the aspiring regional executives. And to this end, our source says the minister gave his firmest instruction to all contesting aspirants to desist from using any of the names of ministers to campaign. According to our source, one of the persons mentioned in the GO story last week as trumpeting Kofi Portuphy and Joseph Yammin�s name as those behind his candidature was severely questioned by the Regional Minister. Thought the Non-Formal Head has since denied using these two persons on campaign, the Minister, according to our source, demanded a stop to the use of �connected people� in their personal campaigns. The source said the Minister at a point became so furious and demanded that henceforth no one seeking to contest for any position within the Region, Constituency or Branch should use any body�s name. The Minister is reported to have insisted that aspiring candidates use their own experiences and grass-root work to conduct their campaigns. Dr. Samuel Sarpong is said to have urged all aspirants to use their own strengths for their individual campaigns devoid of mudslinging and insults. Meanwhile, GO is reliably informed that Joseph Yammin queried the Non-Formal head for using his name during his campaign launch at Oforikrom. At the said launch, the Ashanti Regional Head is suspected to have used both Kofi Portuphy and Joseph Yammin�s name as those strongly behind his candidature. According to our source, pressure from the Flagstaff House since this infamous declaration has asked the Regional Minister to rein in line all contestants and aspiring candidates from using any body�s name to campaign. This measure from the flagstaff house, our source indicated, is to prevent division in the party ahead of the regional delegate�s conference.
