Trustees of Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), defeated Ghana Police Service 1-0 to win this year�s Bajfreight and Logistics Hockey Gala played at the Theodosia Okoh Hockey Pitch in Accra on Saturday.
The game which was to usher in the 2014/ 2015 Greater Accra Hockey Season, saw both teams fighting for the opener which did not come till first half ended.
When the second session resumed, both teams put up a splendid performance but Trustees who were slightly on top netted the only goal of the match through Jones Afari five minutes to full time.
On their way to the finals, the champions edged out Reformers 1-0 while Police also beat Ghana Revenue Authority (Customs Division) 1-0.
In the Women�s segment, Police thrashed Extinguishers of Ghana National Fire Service 3-0 to lift the trophy while Sapholda also beat NDK Financiers 3-0 to win the Seniors event with Tema Youth accounting for Young Financiers 5-4 on penalties after a 0-0 drawn game.
Professor Moses Aikins, Vice Chairman of the Greater Accra Hockey Association thanked the company for sponsoring the competition and called on other corporate bodies and institutions to help develop the game.
Mr Joe Biney, Chief Executive Officer of Bajfreight and Logistics pledged his company�s commitment of sponsoring the event in ensuing years.
He called on all to join the crusade to make the game popular in terms of sponsorship
