Supreme Court Ruling Must Serve As Great Lesson Says Mpohor MP

The Member of Parliament for Mpohor, Hon Alex Agyekum, has described the Supreme Court ruling asking NDC financier Mr Alfred Agbeshie Woyome to return the 51.2 million Ghana Cedis paid to him by the NDC government as judgement Debt, to the state, as a great victory to democracy in Ghana. He commended Mr Martin Amidu, former Attorney General and Minister of Justice who filed the case in court against Mr Woyome, for taking the bull by the horns to fight for the interest of the nation. Speaking to Peace FM in an interview, Hon Agyekum said the achievement of Mr Amidu should serve as a big lesson to people in leadership positions in the country to courageously expose all acts of corruption and wrong doing which impacts negatively on national development. Hon Agyekum also said the Supreme Court ruling must always remind Parliament of the urgent need to properly scrutinize all loan agreements and contracts by government before approving them to ensure value for money. He also called for a separation of the Attorney General�s office from the Ministry of Justice to enable the A-Gl�s office truly fight for the best interest of the country. Hon Agyekum said the Supreme Court�s ruling will actually benefit the country only when government ensures that Mr Woyome returns the 51.2 million Ghana cedis to the state.
