New Upper East Regional Minister Assumes Office

Mr James Zuugah Tiigah, newly appointed Upper East Regional Minister, on Tuesday took over office from his predecessor. In an address to hand over the mantle to his successor, Dr Ephraim Avea Nsoh thanked President John Mahama for granting him the opportunity to serve in his government and disassociated himself from series of demonstrations demanding for his re-instatement. The announcement by the President to remove Dr Nsoh from office was met with fierce resistance from a number of groups in the region. The region has had four ministers in about 12 months; a situation the outgoing minister indicated might have necessitated the regular and widespread demonstrations nationwide. He said the peoples agitations were genuine because the constant change of leadership in the region has affected the regions development. Mr Tiigah pledged to work within four thematic areas as a regional minister, which includes unity, continuity, teamwork and open door administration. He thanked his predecessor for laying a good foundation for effective development of the region.
