Atik Mohammed, a policy Analyst of the People�s National Convention (PNC) has described the circumstances in which a whopping amount of GHc 51.1m was paid to the Accra-based businessman Alfred Agbesi Woyome, as �scandalous and criminal� . To him, there was a conspiracy by like minded individuals to swindle the people of Ghana with the fraudulent judgment debt even though they knew Mr. Woyome had no contract with government. He stated that it is scandalous and criminal for some members of government to have ensured the payment in spite of the fact that there was no due diligence done to ascertain the claims of Mr. Alfred Woyome. ��Certain players in the saga ought to have known better and can therefore not feign ignorance, giving their depth in knowledge as far as legal matters in the country are concerned,� he said. The out-spoken PNC stalwart indicated that Martin Amidu a former Attorney General and Minister of Justice, popularly known as �Citizen Vigilante�, by whose courtesy the State purse would be reimbursed with GHc51.2m, must be given 5% of the total sum as a sign of reward for his patriotism. ��he may have made some payments in filing the case and other expenses, so at least 5% must be given to him for the wonderful work he has done for mother Ghana. This would even spur others on in embarking on such patriotic causes,� he said on NEAT FM. This comes on the heels of a ruling by the Supreme Court of Ghana on a Judicial Review brought before it by former Attorney General, Martin Amidu against Alfred Agbesi Woyome and the country representative of Isofoton S. A, Anane Agyei Forson; who insisted that Woyome, like Waterville and Isofoton, had no valid contract to be paid any amount by the state in judgement debt. The Supreme Court of the land decided that the NDC financier got the money out of an invalid and unconstitutional contract and further ruled that an amount of c51.2 million paid the businessman be returned to national chest.
