Money Doubling Goes Bloody As 6 Murder �Fetish� Priest, Nephew

The Nkawkaw Police have arrested six young men for allegedly murdering a 46-year-old traditional priest and his nephew for their failure to make them rich overnight. The suspects had given the traditional priest GH�10,000 to turn to GH�100,000. The six suspects � Abdul Malik, Kwame Ofosu and John Weah, all 17; Kwame Isaac, 19; Kwasi Alhassan, 22, and Kwaku Sarpong, 20 � are currently assisting the police in their investigations. Briefing newsmen in Nkawkaw yesterday, the Nkawkaw District Police Commander,Deputy Superintendent of Police Mr Gyabeng Manu, said the six suspects some time ago sent GH�10,000 to the traditional priest, Nana Asare Obinim, at his shrine at Kwahu Besease to turn it into GH�100,000. According to him, after several visits to the shrine, Nana Obinim could not turn the money into GH�100,000. Mr Manu said on July 30, this year, the suspects went to the residence of the traditional priest to demand a refund of the GH�10,000. He explained that a misunderstanding ensued between the suspects, on the one hand, and the traditional priest and his nephew, identified only as Owusu, on the other. He said it was during the exchanges that Nana Obinim and Owusu were allegedly killed by the suspects. Mr Manu said after killing the two, the suspects sent the bodies to the community cemetery for burial. They were later arrested. According to him, the bodies of the two had since been exhumed and deposited at the Holy Family Hospital mortuary awaiting autopsy.
