The running mate to Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in 2008 and 2012 general elections, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is playing key roles in the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), positioning him to take charge of the party�s 2016 campaign.
Sources within the party have told The National Forum that Dr. Bawumia is the most competent and reliable person with a major stake in the next elections.
His charming display on Nana�s campaign trail ahead of NPP�s presidential primaries on October 18, 2014; is said to be capturing the hearts and minds of suffering Ghanaians across the country.
Nana Akufo-Addo is highly favoured to lead the NPP in 2016 elections for the third consecutive time because of the nationwide endorsement he is receiving from party delegates.
It is expected that self-motivated Bawumia will again partner the veteran politician to galvanize NPP for it to capture power after dwelling in opposition for eight years.
Political watchers have indicated that as an accomplished economist and a former deputy governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), Dr. Bawumia has become a consummate politician who is greatly admired by NPP faithful and even some diehards in the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Taking charge of NPP�s campaign for 2016, Dr. Bawumia will woo the masses and ensure total victory for the party.
�Some of us think Nana Addo will win the presidential primaries and we want Bawumia to be in charge of Nana�s campaign for the 2016 elections to attract more floating voters and also manage our campaign resources,� an NPP guru stated.
Dr. Bawumia�s masterly performance as a star witness during the presidential election petition at the Supreme Court coupled with his understanding and predictions on the Ghanaian economy, the NPP kingpin noted, had made him the �darling boy� of the suffering masses.
