Nkrumah Circle Traders To Be Relocated

Traders at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra have confirmed that plan are underway for them to be relocated to new places in the city after the completion of an interchange currently under-construction. The traders in an interview with this paper said, meetings have held between their leadership and the city authorities on their location immediately the project meant to ease the flow of traffic in the heart of the capital is done with. They could however not disclose the exact location where the traders mostly at the Tiptoe lane area of the busy Accra-suburb will be sent to. A trader, who only gave his name his name as Mike said in an interview with this paper that he has started preparing to leave the location anytime soon since work was progressing on the multi-dollar interchange. I am ready to movebecause obviously none of us will remain here when work is done so to me the issue of our relocation is no news, he said. The traders however appealed to the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) Boss, Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije to order the contractors to put their things right since the congestion at the location is becoming unbearable. The construction work, they claim has led to continual flooding of the location with stagnant waters in gutters becoming breeding grounds for mosquitoes who trouble traders even at day time.
