Aspirant To Unify Grassroots Members To Boost NDC Votes

Mr Alhassan Nuhu, branch chairman of the Nyohini electoral area of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has pledged to unify grassroots members of the Tamale South Constituency of the National Democratic Congress to double the party�s votes in 2016 elections. �Most of the grassroots members of the party feel neglected by the current constituency executives after the party�s victory in 2012,� he said. Mr Nuhu said this on Tuesday in Tamale after submitting his form to the Tamale South constituency office to contest for the constituency chairmanship position of the party. Mr Nuhu said his decision to join the chairmanship race was as a result of the request by the grassroots members of the party due to the dedication, concern and affection has for the people. �This is the time to calm down the tempers of all the peeved members who worked hard for the party in the last election and to remobilise them towards the next election�, he said. Mr Nuhu, 41, a contractor said he had constant interaction with the grassroots members and had risen through the ranks of the party since 1992 and had been a youth organizer, ward youth organizer and branch chairman. He said when elected as chairman, steps would be put in place to initiate and maintain effective and efficient interaction between the constituency executives, the Member of Parliament and the grassroots members through the instituting of a quarterly meeting. Mr Mohammed Abdul, 32, who is also contesting for the constituency Youth Organiser also submitted his forms and pledged to unify the youth ahead of the 2016 elections.
