Forty-Eight File Nominations To Contest Agona West NDC Election

Forty-eight members have filed their nominations to contest some executive positions in the Agona West Constituency branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). Five members of the Party who picked nomination forms to contest various positions failed to submit them to the Election Director at the close of nominations on Friday August 1. Mr Kwesi Dawood Poka, Agona West NDC Election Director, who made this known to the Media at Agona Swedru, said the contestants will be vying for 15 executive positions in the constituency in an election that had been slated for August 15. The positions include Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary and Assistant Secretary, Women organizer and Deputy, Youth Organizer and Deputy, Treasurer and Assistant, Organizer and Deputy and Propaganda and Deputy. Mr Poka who is also the Propaganda Secretary of the Agona West Constituency, asked the contestants to desist from insulting, blackmailing one another, to ensure smooth, decent and clean elections. He cautioned campaign managers of the contestants to refrain from vilification, which he said, could affect the fortunes of the party. The Propaganda Secretary called on the contestants and their supporters to respect the rules and regulations of the elections. Mr Poka was of the view that the election of the new executives would determine the chances of the NDC to retain power in 2016. He said the party is expecting cohesion after the Constituency, Regional and National executive elections, to promote unity and progress, and cautioned them to guard against utterances that will bring divisiveness and chaos among members.
