NRSC Strategises To Meet 2014 Targets

The National Road Safety Commission (NRSC) is meeting in Ho to work out strategies to meet its performance targets for 2014. A total of 1,033 persons lost their lives in 6,839 road accidents nationwide in the in the first half of 2013. The strategic objective of the Commission is to reduce road crash fatalities on a year-on-year basis, and achieve a total of less than 1,000 by 2015. The four-day mid-year review conference, which began on Monday, August 11, is expected to re-position the Commission towards halting the increasing trend of fatalities and injuries by 2015 and reduce the figures by 50 per cent by 2020. Mr Kwame Kodua Atuahene, Head of Communications, NRSC, told the Ghana News Agency that management and senior staff of the Commission would be taken through series of training programmes on performance appraisal, leadership and public ethics, and defensive driving.
