An academic has advised students in tertiary institutions to desist from contracting people to do their research work for them. �Information from the various universities suggest that students pay between GH�700 and GH�800 to people to carry out their research work for them�, Dr Mary Opare, Head of Nursing Department, Central University Collage, said. The research projects or long essays form part of tertiary education requirements for the award of diplomas and degrees. Dr Opare, who spoke at the Greater Accra launch of the 2014 Nurses Week Celebration recently held in Tema, said "students must do the research themselves to prove their capabilities". She said apart from the inability of such students to perform well on the job, they lack the ability to carry out the needed research to improve their work. Speaking on the theme: "Nurses and Midwives: A Force For Change - A vital Resource For Health", she called on nurses and other health practitioners to incorporate education, good practice, mentorship, research and advocacy into the discharge of their job. Dr Opare urged senior health professionals to mentor the student nurses to give proper care to patients as that is the core of the profession. She also appealed to them to be vessels of change in their communities by educating their neighbours on good health practices.
