CEO Of Inter-commercial Impex Ltd Visit BCI & Peace And Love Hospital

Nicola Manning, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Inter-Commercial Impex Limited (ICIL), the company behind Forever Easy and Yofi sanitary products has paid a one day working visit to Breast Care International (BCI) offices and Peace And Love Hospital in Kumasi. Madam Nicola Manning who was accompanied by Mr Kwabena Sarpong, the Managing Director, James Harry Norris-Baiden, Marketing and Branding Director and Mrs. Constance Konadu Sarpong of ICIL were warmly received by Dr. (Mrs.) Beatrice Wiafe Addai and staff of both BCI and Peace and Love Hospital who escorted the visiting guests to a mini durbar where the majority of the staff of BCI, Peace and Love Hospital, members of Peace and Love Survivors Association (PALSA), the Media, and representation from the community were gathered. Speaking at the durbar, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Peace and Love Hospitals Dr. (Mrs.) Beatrice Wiafe Addai briefed the guest about the breast cancer situation in Ghana and the effort both the hospital and BCI are putting in place to prevent and control the increasing incidence and mortality of breast cancer in the country. She emphasised that the outreach programmes of BCI are designed to empower the women of Ghana through awareness creation, education, screening, and loving support especially among women in both the rural and urban centres. Additionally, Dr. Wiafe Addai talked about the Peer-Nurse Navigation programme, the first of its kind in Africa, which uses breast cancer survivors and nurses trained in basic breast cancer management to guide newly diagnosed patients to go through successful treatments. In addition, Dr. (Mrs.) Wiafe Addai said that breast cancer survivors play an important role by using their experience to give patients courage and hope to go through cancer treatments. According to Dr. Wiafe Addai women have the right to survive from breast cancer and the location of women should not determine whether they would live or die from breast cancer. Dr. Wiafe thanked ICIL for their immense support to BCI�s activities including BCI Ghana Walk for the Cure, Oncology Nursing Trainings, Community Breast Health Promoters Training, Peer Navigation Training and others. She also appealed to the mass present to patronise the Forever Easy and Yofi pads and also ask their friends and family to buy these products. She stressed on the great support ICIL is giving to BCI. Madam Nicola Manning in her presentation briefed the house about their support to Breast Cancer Campaign in Ghana. She explained the importance of ICIL�s collaboration with BCI to create awareness of the Breast Cancer disease across the country and beyond. She mentioned that ICIL and BCI formally agree to work in collaboration to educate, inform and demystify breast cancer and breast related health challenges to the Ghanaian public through community outreach, radio, and television programs. She also promised that ICIL will continue to collaborate with BCI in promoting breast cancer awareness, improving the quality of life of women living with breast cancer through the provision of quality counseling, education, advocacy advice and support. Inter-Commercial Impex Limited, voluntarily levy One Ghana Pesewa (1GP) on every pack of sanitary pad sold to the public and cumulate such monies accruing from such voluntary levy to support BCI activities. Furthermore, she urged other corporate organisations to also collaborate with BCI to extend its breast cancer awareness campaign. She described her visit as successful and she looked forward to greater collaboration with Breast Care International to advance cancer prevention and control in Ghana. She was impressed with the combined efforts of Peace and Love Hospitals and BCI in addressing the breast cancer situation in Ghana. Madam Nicola and her entourage had a tour of the facilities at the Peace And Love Hospital, including the BCI office and interacted with the staff.
