Chinese Killed By Chinese

AN UNIDENTIFIED Chinese man, on Thursday, shot and killed a fellow Chinese at Tema Community 9. The motive for the killing is yet to be established by the police, who have launched a manhunt for the assailant. The latest brings to four the number of killings in the port city, suspected to be contract killings, since the beginning of this year. Then deceased, only identified as Ma Chang Jin, a manager in charge of a two-storey building under construction, directly opposite the Tema General Hospital, to house a restaurant, hotel and casino, reported to work at about 7:00 a.m. on the fateful day. According to construction workers at the site, at about 9:00 a.m., a white car with four occupants, all Chinese, pulled up and parked at the back of the building. The workers stated that one person alighted sporting what looked like Plaster-of-Paris (POP) on the right hand. The man, they said, walked through the entrance to the first floor. According to them, a few minutes after he went up, a gunshot was heard, and immediately the man in POP descended at top speed with a gun in his right hand, and sat in the white car, which took off at top speed. The manager, who followed at the same time, was said to be carrying a small pistol, but fell motionless at the main entrance of the building. The workers, who were shocked at the incident, went on to say that a motorbike rider attempted to chase the get-away car, but to no avail. For unexplained reasons, the few Chinese present failed to attend to the manager, until an ambulance parked near the hospital moved to the scene. The Chinese workers reportedly removed two mobile phones from the dead managers pocket, and also took the pistol which was lying in a pool of blood, before lifting him up. Medical authorities at the Tema General Hospital pronounced him dead on arrival. The Tema Regional Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police is investigating the case, and has appealed to the public for support. It will be recalled that gunmen on 22nd December, 2013, stormed Tema Community 25 and killed the Manager of Zenith Bank at Akosombo, Kwasi Sakyi Prah. Another murder was later recorded of a 55 year old, Samuel Davis Ayuba, a businessman, at Community 4. In all these, the assailants are yet to be apprehended.
