Banda MP Asks Government Not To Rely on BNI

Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim, the Member of Parliament for the Banda Constituency has taken a swipe at the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) by calling on the Presidency not to always rely on its intelligence. According to him, the events that led to an attack on the District Chief Executive (DCE) of Banda, Hon. Alex Bonsu by the youth of Bandakrom on Thursday, 14th August, 2014 underscores the fact that the BNI failed in its duties in relaying the right information to the seat of government. I believe the Presidency must not always depend on the reports from the BNI because issues of the Banda District Assembly are an indication of the fact that, they (BNI) have failed, he said on NEAT FM . The MP for Banda who doubles as the Deputy Majority Whip of Parliament made this claim after the youth of Banadakrom, the District Capital forcefully removed Hon. Alex Bonsu from his official vehicle and placed him in the custody of a well respected priest in the area. However, Owusu Ansah, NEAT 100.9 FMs correspondent who broke the news described the strategy employed by the youth of Bandakrom who believe their DCE had involved himself in some corrupt practices as second to that which Libyan rebels used to capture their former leader, Muammar Gaddafi. According to him, the youth ambushed Hon. Bonsu on his way from Sanwa to the Bandakrom, the District Capital, where his office is located. He then escaped into a forest reserve close to the Bui, which is full of wild cats, such as lions and tigers through a cashew farm, but the angry youth managed to capture him after a thirty minute man-hunt. The youth then placed him in the custody of a well respected priest after riding back to Bandakrom in a public transport. Meanwhile, the Member of Parliament of Banda is of the view that the youth resorted to such an action due to the fact that nothing had been done, by way of query after external auditors uncovered a series of corruption, including the inflation of contract sums on bore-holes, ghost contracts and misappropriation of the Disability Fund. But Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim maintained that the blame must be laid on the door-step of the BNI for their failure to pass on the right information to the executive.
