NPP Chief Scribe Worried Over Porous Nature Of Countrys Borders

NPP General Secretary, Kwabena Agyapong has decried the porous nature of Ghana's borders, claiming it provides access to scrupulous people to infiltrate the country to perpetuate fraud. Speaking in an interview on Peace FMs Morning Show, Kwabena Agyapong expressed worry over the inadequate security measures at the country's borders saying the poor security measures along the borders allow non-citizens to sneak into the country and partake in exercise meant for only Ghanaians; such as the recent limited voters registration. Sharing his observations on the just-ended exercise by the Electoral Commission (EC), the NPP General Secretary ascribe the irregularities in the register to the laxity in securing the country's borders. I expect security authorities; the Chief of Defence Staff of our country, the Inspector General of Police, the Commissioner of Customs, the Director of Immigration; I think they should be alive with their jobs and intensify security at the borders," he said. He called on the security services to deploy patrol teams at the borders to safeguard Ghanaians and further held strongly that ineligible Ghanaian citizens and foreigners should be disallowed to vote during the elections. Reached for his views on the exercise, National Organizer of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Yaw Boateng Gyan, warned against the attempt by some Ghanaians to marginalize others and prevent them from registering in any area of their choice. To him, the electorates can only challenge the legitimacy of any person intending to partake in the process but "shouldnt prevent anybody. Such things violate the lawI think its not right for anybody to hinder somebody from registering.
