Is Presbyterian Church Now A Construction Firm? - Deputy Minster Asks

Deputy Minister in charge of pre-tertiary Education, Alex Kyeremeh has questioned the rationale behind the Presbyterian Churchs demand on government to hand over the construction of the 200 day community Senior High School (SHS) to the church. This follows a call by the Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rt. Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Martey on government to handover the construction of the community day SHS to churches. He said Presby and other churches in the country have the expertise to manage the school in a godly way. But speaking to Adom FMs News, Alex Kyeremeh wondered whether the Presby Church is not a construction firm to construct the schools for the government. Is the Presbyterian Church now a construction firm to build schools on behalf of the government? He asked. The Deputy Minister who is also the Member of Parliament for Techiman North stated that if the government gives the funds to the Presby Church for the construction of the schools, it will violate the Public Procurement Law, 2003, ACT 663 because it has to pass through scrutinizing. Alex Kyeremeh therefore called on the leadership of Presbyterian Church to let its members who are interested to build school to apply whenever government announces plans to build projects.
