NPP Heading For Disaster

A Political science lecturer, Aminu Dramani, has said the opposition New Patriotic Party is heading for disaster" if immediate measures are not taken to address the latest wrangling in the party. According to him, the level of mistrust in the party currently has the tendency to destroy the unity and cohesion needed by an opposition party to win an election. The NPP has been rocked with confusion following a directive from its General Secretary instructing the acting communication director, Perry Okudzeto, to proceed on leave. Some supporters believe the Paul Afoko-led administration is deliberately targeting party officials who are suspected to be loyal to the NPP's two-time presidential candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo. A press conference to explain the reasons behind the proceed on leave directive Tuesday, turned bloody, as angry supporters threatened to kill the general secretary. Commenting on the matter, Dramani urged elders of the Dankwa-Busia tradition to immediately call a truce before things get out of hand. As to whether the party is heading for a split or not, history will tell, but clearly any keen observer of these unpleasant developments in the NPP will notice that the party is heading for a disaster, the lecturer told Citi FM.
