Opare-Hammond Dares Afoko & Agyapong...Vows To Break Into His Office

Director of Finance and Administration of the New Patriotic Party has broken his silence over allegations of fraud leveled against him by the party's General Secretary, Kwabena Agyapong and National Chairman, Paul Afoko. Dismissing claims of his involvement in acts of fraud leveled against him, Opare Hammond, in an interview on Peace FM's Morning Show "Kokrokoo", vowed to break into what used to be his office at the partys headquarters in a Rambo-style and continue working as the substantive Director of Finance. Speaking to host Kwami Sefa Kayi, Mr. Hammond said the allegations are complete "falsehoods" targeted at demeaning his reputation. According to him, he has never disbursed monies into any secret account nor opened a secret account in the name of the party. At no point did I open any party account secretly anywhere. I havent done any such thing. I dont know where this thing came fromAs I speak to you now, as far as Im concerned Im still the substantive Director of Finance and AdministrationI have not connived with anybody to open an account secretly in the name of the party, he categorically stated. Opare-Hammond explained that, under some very debatable circumstances, he was asked to proceed on leave by the General Secretary; a decision that did not sit down well with him and some other leading members of the party. When the incident became public, he recounted, the party's Legal and Constitutional Committee met on the matter of his dismissal, with the then chairman of the committee Ayikoi Otoo describing his dismissal as illegal. He disclosed that the party's constitutional committee then tasked three leading members of the party - Fredua Antoh, Kwabena Agyepong and the party's treasurer to ensure that the matter was amicably resolved. He further disclosed that he subsequently sent a written note to the party asking for few weeks out on leave which was then granted and was therefore utterly shocked to hear the two leaders - General Secretary and National Chairman- accusing him of defrauding the party during a press conference on Tuesday. Mr. Paul Afoko, addressing the press, alleged that Mr. Hammond was dismissed after several acts of fraud were detected. But to the embittered Director of Finance and Administration, he still remains the substantive Director of Finance. As a matter of principle, Mr. Hammond revealed that he will go back to the party's headquarters and forcefully break into his office, claiming even the lock to his office was changed after he was asked to step aside. Clearly unhappy at the trumped up charges and attempt at tarnishing his image, the former NPP MP for Adenta vowed to match the General Secretary boot for boot and counter all the allegations leveled against him. I am even saying that because of what they have done; Im going back to the office todaybreak into it because they have changed the lock to my office. I will go, break the door, report at work so they can come and level all those allegations and accusations against me officially So, I can respond to them appropriately, he said in a rather defiant mood.
