The National Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), Kofi Portuphy on Thursday accused his deputy, Madam Anita Desooso of not being �qualified for the job�. Madam Anita Desooso had earlier accused her boss, Mr Portuphy of running a one-man show at the organisation. In a petition to the Chief of Staff, Madam Desooso said since her appointment in February, 2014, she has not received her �basic salary� and demanded an �immediate composition of the NADMO governing Board to ensure a harmonious working relationship.� However, in a quick rebuttal on Asempa FM, the NADMO boss debunked the claim of running a one-man show saying; �I�m surprised at her conduct; how can we pay you for no work done? She is just an enemy of progress� Apart from "distributing relief items" Anita Desooso has no knowledge or expertise in disaster management he added. But speaking to this issue during a panel discussion on Peace FM �Kokrokoo�, Legal Practitioner Egbert Faibille Jnr asked the NADMO boss to resign. "This is an indictment on President Mahama�a president appoints a deputy and then you come on air to say that she is not qualified? It means the President who appointed her as your (Portuphy) assistant, has a problem. These are part of the economic challenges we are facing in this country�this is a very serious matter and I feel that if Mr Portuphy loves Ghana, he should resign". He also added that appointment to NADMO should not be based on party lines because the organisation is solely in charge of disaster management and not politics. He urged that appointment to NADMO should be done by the Public services commission because if the political appointment continues in the organisation, �I will not be surprised that a disaster will occur in a political party and NADMO will say that they will not go there because it is a political zone� �Disaster is public and not private; so why should we reduce NADMO to a political unit where the President can look at any party apparatchik and ask him or her to deputize. If you want to appoint people for NADMO, you can even choose to second somebody from the fire service or the police. You don�t inflict somebody like Anita Desooso on us for her boss to come and say that she is not good. Mr Portuphy should do the honourable thing and resign to show the President that he is a man of principle and that he will not accept any mediocre person working under him.�
