A total of three thousand, one hundred and four (3,104) people were registered by the Electoral Commission in Effutu Constituency during the just ended limited voters registation. They were made up of one thousand six hundred and fifty two males and one thousand four hundred and fifty two females. Miss Emilia Akortia, in charge of Effutu Constituency Electoral Commission Directorate, made this known in an interview with Ghana News Agency in Winneba. According to her, the figure was provisional with regard to 17 challenges made during the exercise. She said the Review Register Committee have started sitting on such challenges and will come out with the certified number of people registered in the Constituency when their work is done. Miss Akortia said two out of the 17 challenged, admitted to being Nigerians when they were latter interrogated by the electoral officials. She added that, they have since been handed over to the police to be prosecuted in accordance with the Constitutional Instrument (C.I) N0. 72 that define who should register and with punitive measures for those who are not supposed to register. The Municipal Electoral Officer advised those whose Voter�s Identity Cards was missing to exercise restraint and ensure to visit the centers where they registered when the voters register exhibition commence for the necessary help. Miss Akortia commended political parties in Effutu Municipality and the entire people of the area for their cooperation and tolerance that led to a successful exercise in the area.
