Sir John Quits Politics.Goes Into Cassava Cultivation?

Immediate-past General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Lawyer Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, has been on the quiet for some time now. And his loud silence, particularly over the deepening internal wrangling within his party, appear a bit surprising to many political pundits. But Sir John, as the former NPP General Secretary is affectionately called, says it is because he has quit politics following his shocking defeat at the hands of Kwabena Agyapong during the partys Tamale Delegates Conference. Speaking to the host of Ade Akye Abia on Okay Fm, Kwame Nkrumah Tikese, the former NPP Chief Scribe revealed that he is now into full time cassava cultivation and production. I went to my village because I am now engaged in cassava farming and cultivationand because of its demanding nature, I have to constantly be in my village to see to the progress of the farm...Now Agriculture is very profitable and the backbone of the economy, he stated. Asked what he makes of the bitter constant bickering within the NPP the recent rowdy incidents recorded at the partys headquarters, Sir John blamed the situation on the desperate search for power by the partys supporters. According to him, the party feels the urgent need to win power to save Ghanaians from the bad governance of the Mahama-led administration. He indicated that the rising tension will ease when the new executives headed by Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyapong, National Chairman and General Secretary respectively, learn to accommodate views from other members. I am yet to get the full details of what happened. I will call Kwabena for briefing, he is my younger brother and I think when they listen to the other members these things will pipe down. But I believe these things are happening because our party people need power and I believe the executives want power too. We must win power to save Ghanaians from this crisis, Lawyer Owusu Afriyie stressed.
