Suspected Fake Doctor In Police Grips

A self-styled Doctor is in the grips of the Suame Divisional Police after posing as a Gynaecologist at the Suntreso Government Hospital in Kumasi. The suspect, who fakes under different names, including Dr. Akuoko Sarpong, Dr. Frank Akuoko and Dr. Boamah, was arrested after his real identity was exposed by a nurse at the hospital, whom he attempted to rape last week. He is expected to re-appear before the KMA Court today, after being remanded in police custody. According to information gathered by The Chronicle, the suspect, who had been operating for some time now, made advances towards one of the nurses whose name has been concealed for security reasons and wanted to have sex with her during a night duty at one of the wards of the hospital. The victim told the paper that the suspect, whom she was seeing for the first time at the hospital, approached her at the Gynaecology Ward and introduced himself as new personnel on duty. The nurse, however, said as she attempted to get to know the suspect further, the fake doctor, who had dressed in duty attire, incidentally made advances towards her and attempted to sexually molest her, amid stiff resistance. She said she struggled with the suspect and later received support from the Security Guard after shouting for help, resulting in the subsequent arrest of the suspect by the Sofoline Police, which later transferred him to the Suame Divisional Command. Meanwhile, the Suame Divisional Police Commander, ACP Boadu Peprah, confirmed the incident and the arrest of the suspect during an interview with the paper, but did not agree to give any further details, since the case was before the court.
