Volta Chiefs Endorse Joe Ghartey Ahead Of NPP Special Delegates Congress

Leading up to the Special Delegates Congress of the New Patriotic Party [NPP] to elect a flagbearer, Joe Ghartey has ended a successful tour of the Volta Region to canvas for votes. The former Attorney General and Minister of Justice in his tour met with some traditional leaders in the region (paramount Chief of Gbi Traditional area, Togbe Gabusu VI; the Mankralo of Gbi Bla, Togbe Vulley V and the clan head of Kpeme, Togbe Worde IV] to discuss his plans for the region if elected to lead the NPP and wins the presidential election in 2016. Togbe Gabusu VI who seems worried with the yet-to-resolve crisis within the elephant fraternity called for unity in the NPP Party and admonished all members and sympathizers of the party to eschew violence in settling their differences. According to him, �no one ever achieves anything positive with a divided house. Members of one family must recognize themselves as such for their mutual advancement and benefit�. Togbe Ayim, who is a lawyer and chief of Bla also gave an emphatic endorsement of the candidature of Joe Ghartey. He said, �I can tell you that Joe Ghartey is not simply accomplished in the law but he is a faithful servant of the NPP who knows the Volta terrain, the people and our problems very well. He is someone who will never forget us when he wins power, I assure you.� Flagbearer hopeful Joe Ghartey however showed appreciation to the chiefs and people of Volta for their endorsement and support during his campaign tour in the region. He promised the region of a �massive� development if his ambition to lead the NPP and becomes Ghana�s president comes to reality. �I am not a Voltarian by birth or by blood but I am a Voltarian by choice. I thank you all for the support and endorsement,� he said.
