Tema East NDC Chair Sure Of Victory

The incumbent National Democratic Congress (NDC) chairman of Tema East Constituency, Mr. Mustafa Darko, says his track record will convince party delegates in the up-coming constituency elections to retain him. According to him, it was through his hard work that for the first time in the history of the countrys elections, the NDC defeated the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the presidential elections in the constituency. Mr. Darko made these observations in an interview with Today in Tema in Accra. Six other people so far have filed to challenge the incumbent chairman. They are Mahama Bulesa, Mahama Zakari, Odai Biney, Appiah Darko, Jako Addo and Francis Bleboo. The Tema East NDC chairman aspirant recounted some of his achievements since 2005 adding that: I deserve a second term, he stated. In fact it wasnt easy at that time when the party (NDC) was in opposition. However, I single- handedly funded most of the activities in the constituency, he added. The Tema East constituency, the NDC chairman hopeful, noted has always been the World Bank of the NPP since 1992. That, he said, was evidenced in the past presidential and parliamentary elections where the difference between the NPP and the NDC has always been between 18,000 to 19,000 votes. Nonetheless, he said, the NDC is gradually making some inroads in its electoral fortunes. Mr. Darko continued that the NDC in 2008 narrowed the difference to 7,000 votes whilst in the 2012 elections, the NDC managed to beat the NPP in the presidential elections with over 2,000 votes. My main aim for the NDC in the constituency is to wrestle the seat completely from the NPP and I believe I can achieve this if Im retained as the chairman, he assured. He therefore called on the delegates to vote massively for him to continue with the good works he is doing for the party. I am ready to work with all in the party whether you are in my camp or not so that we can remain united as a people, he assured.
