Delegates Congress Not Useless Akufo-Addo

The 2012 presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo has said the partys Super Delegates Congress is not useless as some claim. According to him, there is nothing wrong with the congress since it is part of the partys constitutional requirement. Im surprised people are saying the NPP Super Congress is useless. Its a requirement in our party constitution. About 787 delegates in the party voted at selected polling centres nationwide to reduce to five the seven candidates seeking to be the partys presidential candidate for the 2016 elections. The delegates include Constituency Chairmen, Regional Executives, Members of Parliament, National Executive Committee members, founding members and the Council of Elders. The party will, however, hold another congress on October 18, 2014 to choose the ultimate candidate to lead the party in 2016. Nana Akufo-Addo said the congress was necessary because it would give all the candidates equal opportunities. He added that the congress would also address the challenges the party experienced during the search for a candidate for the 2008 presidential election.
