The Anglican University College of Technology�s Council has appointed Prof. Albert Addo-Quaye as its new President. Professor Addo-Quaye is the second person to be appointed as President since the university which runs a multi-campus system, was established. He takes over from the late Prof. Marian Ewurama Addy, the first president of the university who passed away early this year. Prior to his appointment, Prof. Albert A. Addo-Quaye, a Professor of Agronomy, was Dean of the School of Graduate Studies and Research, Central University College (CUC), Mataheko and Miotso, Ghana. He was the immediate past Dean of the School of Graduate Studies and Research, University of Cape Coast (UCC), Ghana. He has previously held the positions of Dean of Students, UCC; Vice-Dean, School of Agriculture and Head, Department of Crop Science, UCC. He was also the Dean, School of Business Management and Administration and Head, Department of Agribusiness Management, CUC. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture, Diploma in Education (University of Cape Coast) and a PhD degree in Agronomy (Imperial College at Wye, University of London). He also spent one year as a Visiting Scholar (Post-doctoral Fellow) at the Plant Environment Laboratory, Department of Agriculture, University of Reading, England. Prof. Addo-Quaye brings to ANGUTECH, 29 years experience in teaching, research and development and extension in Crop Physiology, Field Crop Production, Horticulture, Cropping Systems Agronomy and Agribusiness Management aimed at food security and sustainable food production. His research interests include Crop Physiology, Crop Production and Management, Crop Quality and Post-harvest Physiology, Cropping Systems, Agronomy, Chemical Manipulation of Plant Growth and Development and Environmental Control of Crop Development. He is currently one of the leaders of the member institutions of the African Network for Agriculture, Agro forestry and Natural Resources Education (ANAFE) implementing the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP). He has also been involved in M & E, review of scholarly journal articles, editing of scientific papers, curriculum development and continues to serve as External Examiner for other universities. Prof. Addo-Quaye has participated in several conferences, seminars and workshops where he has read papers. He has published many scientific papers and text books in the field of Agriculture. He is a Fellow of the prestigious African Scientific Institute (ASI) based in Oklahoma, USA and a member of professional bodies including the Institute of Biology, London; African Crop Science Society; Ghana Institute of Horticulturists and the Ghana Science Association.
