Radio Presenter Resigns To Contest NDC Election

A popular political show host with Emak FM in Koforidua, the Eastern regional capital, Francis Annor Dompreh has tendered in his resignation letter to the management of the Radio station and has declared his intention to contest the Eastern Regional Deputy Secretary Position of the ruling National Democratic Congress(NDC) in the upcoming regional executives election. Francis Annor Dompreh is an experience broadcast Journalist with over 15 years working experience in broadcast Journalism. He started his Journalism career in the 1990's as a political show host with Eastern, FM formerly Radio Z, then moved to Emak FM in 2011 where he was appointed as Assistant Manager and host of the station's hottest and controversial political show dubbed 'Adekyemusem" till date. The ace broadcast Journalist�s investigative and interrogative style of interviewing skills of politicians, especially, the political opponents attracted accusations from the opposition New Patriotic Party who accused him of executing the interest of the NDC even though he was being fair, firm and balanced. His distinguished sense of professionalism accorded him the opportunity to be elected as Eastern Regional Vice Chairman of the Ghana Journalists Association from 2010-2013. During his career in broadcast Journalism, he interviewed great political leaders such as the late President John Evans Atta Mills, current President John Dramani Mahama, Nana Akufo-Addo (2012 Presidential candidate of the NPP), Dr. Henry Lartey of Great Consolidated Popular Party and a host of others. Speaking to the DAILY HERITAGE, Mr Dompreh who is the elder brother of the Member of Parliament for Nsawam Adoagyiri constituency, Frank Annor Dompreh, stated that " I have decided to move on from broadcasting to politics because I have always believed in the ideals of the NDC, but due to my profession, I couldn't pursue that but I think the right time is now for me to bring my experience to bear on partisan political front." He said. He explained that the NDC cannot afford to lose the 2016 election because despite all the temporary economic challenges facing the country, there are a number of developmental projects completed and ongoing throughout the country, hence, the need for individuals in the party with the expertise in advertising to highlight the good work of the government by communicating directly to the public and help foil propaganda strategies of political opponents which he is qualified ,dedicated and committed to execute for the party. He added that, contesting for the position of deputy Regional Secretary is to help bring hope to the grassroots supporters of the party who are intimidated by the opposition New Patriotic Party in the region during electioneering campaign stressing that he is fearless to lead the party to where courageous men are needed to bring victory. Mr Dompreh assured that having held position of branch chair and constituency executive member in the New Juaben south constituency, he is much aware of the challenges facing the grassroots, therefore, he would work hard to ensure that grassroots support base of the party get adequate support from the party since elections are won at the polling stations.
