Jomoro Constituency NDC Conference Frozen

The conference of the Jomoro Constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to elect new executives has been suspended indefinitely following an order by the High Court. The Sekondi High Court, on Thursday, placed an injunction on the event, which had been scheduled for Friday, August 29. This followed an application filed by Mr Dauphin Bright Douphah, the partys branch secretary at the Roman Catholic Junior High School, at Half-Assini, on Tuesday, August 26. The plaintiff requested the court to restrain the conference from taking place and also Mr Gideon Konibah from contesting the impending election, and any other. The plaintiff is seeking to ban Mr Konibah, who is contesting the position of Constituency Chairman, for alleged misrepresentation and fraud. The plaintiff claims Mr Konibah declared on his Curriculum Vitae to the Constituency Vetting Committee that he attended the Takoradi SNAPS Complex School, which had been found as untrue, hence the action. Meanwhile, a large number of supporters of Mr Konibah, on Friday, converged at the forecourt of the NDC Office at Half- Assini, where Mr Konibah and others took turns to address them for a few hours. They wore red bands on their arms, necks, and heads and chanted, 'No Gideon, No NDC. The picture shows Mr Konibah and his supporters at the party office.
