Former Secretary General of the United Nations [UN] and a recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, Kofi Annan has appointed Alan Doss as the new Executive Director of the Kofi Annan Foundation. �I named Alan Doss as the Executive Director of the Kofi Annan Foundation. Alan�s outstanding experience in peace operations, development cooperation and humanitarian action give him a unique perspective that will serve the Foundation well,� he posted on his Facebook wall. Previously Mr. Doss had served as the foundation�s Senior Political Advisor and his tremendous contribution to the foundation has been well appreciated by the chairman of the foundation, Kofi Annan. Mr. Doss was the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Head of the UN peace keeping mission (MONUC) with the rank of Under-Secretary-General until 2010. Prior to his assignment to the Republic of Congo, Alan Doss was the special representative of the UN Secretary-General in Liberia and head of the UN mission (UNMIL). Mr. Doss also served in numerous UN assignments around the world for over four decades. The aim of the Kofi Annan Foundation is to crusade for a fairer, more secure world by advancing peace and security, sustainable development, and human rights.
