Asamoah Gyan's Manager Together With Baffour Gyan Charged With Assault...Granted GHC 30,000 Bail

Baffour Gyan, the Elder brother of Black Stars skipper, Asamoah Gyan, has been arraigned before court charged on two counts of assault. Asamoah Gyans brother appeared before a Kumasi court on Monday afternoon. He appeared together with Samuel Anim Addo, manager of Asamoah Gyan, who was also arrested in connection with the incident. They pleaded not guilty and the court presided over Mr William Boampong admitted them to bail in the sum of GHȻ30, 000 with two sureties. They are expected to reappear on Friday September 12, 2014, for hearing of the case. Earlier in the day, Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Nathan Kofi Boakye stressed that "in the absence of any other person, we will put Baffour Gyan before courtIf theres assault, they can settle it. But in the absence of any settlement, Baffour Gyan will be arraigned before court today or tomorrow. He was speaking in an interview with host Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM's Morning Show "Kokrokoo". Baffour Gyan on Friday allegedly assisted by some "macho" men, pounced on the Ashanti Regional Editor of the Graphic Communications Group Limited, Daniel Kenu and assaulted him for posing an "irrelevant" question to the Black Stars captain. The news editor had asked Asamoah Gyan to put paid to speculations on the mystery surrounding the loss of his friend, Castro; particularly grapevine reports he (Asamoah Gyan) might have sacrificed his friend for ritual purposes. This question infuriated Baffour Gyan, who together with his heavily-built buddies, decided to teach the journalist a lesson. Though Baffour Gyan later turned himself to the Ashanti Regional Police Command some hours after being declared "Wanted, he was said to have been detained for several hours. Explaining the rationale for the detention of Baffour Gyan, DCOP Kofi Boakye told Kwami Sefa Kayi that "it was better for him to remain in cells to assist with our investigations because we wanted to find out the boys who followed him (Baffour Gyan) to beat him (the victim). So, in order not to communicate with them to interfere with investigations, he had to be detained awhile. He came around 10:30 am and he was bailed out around 5:00 pm.
